Bwindi is a big natural forest in south-western Uganda, known for gorilla trekking. It is one of the best places in the world to see mountain gorillas living freely in the wild.
The park has thick trees, hills, birds, and many animals. It is quiet, green, and beautiful — perfect for people who love nature and adventure. The main highlight is walking through the forest with guides to find and watch gorillas up close.

Gorilla Tracking Rules
Before You Set Out
• Do not visit the gorillas if you have a cold or any infectious illness.
• Bury human waste at least 30 cm (12 inches) deep.
• Maximum of 8 visitors per gorilla group.
While With the Gorillas
• Maintain a distance of 7 meters (21 feet).
• No smoking, eating, or drinking during the visit.
• Cover your face and turn away if you need to cough or sneeze.
• Visits are limited to one hour per gorilla group per day.
• Flash photography is strictly prohibited.

General Safari Advisory
• Always follow your guide’s instructions.
• Remain in the vehicle during game drives except at designated points.
• Do not wander off alone; always consult your guide.
• Avoid standing, hanging out of windows, or sitting on the roof of vehicles.
• Keep noise levels low during wildlife viewing.
• Walk in single file and stay close to your guide during walking safaris.
• Watch your footing while in the bush.
• Never run in wildlife areas or when encountering animals.
• Do not stand between a hippo and water.
• Wear long sleeves/trousers in the evening and use insect repellent.
• Use sunscreen, drink water, and wear a hat.
• Avoid bright colors and strong perfumes.
• In tsetse-fly areas, avoid dark blue or black clothing.
• Carry warm clothes for early morning drives (especially June–August).
For Primate Encounters
• Do not visit if ill; great apes are vulnerable to human diseases.
• Keep at least 5–7 meters distance at all times.
• Slowly step back if animals approach too closely.
• If a gorilla charges, crouch slowly, avoid eye contact, and follow your guide’s lead.
• Never stare directly into a gorilla’s eyes.
• Flash photography is not allowed.
